Job Description
Regularly completes the daily assignment of staff within the department based upon the skill, experience and temperament of other nursing personnel and on the acuity of the patients. Serves as a resource to patient care and ancillary staff, and to physicians. Serves as a liaison on interdepartmental issues. Assists with data collection. Supports Nursing Director with quality initiatives and National Patient Safety Goals. Helps to maintain a safe working environment in compliance with JCAHO standards and other applicable regulations, statutes and laws. Provides input to Director on staff competency and probationary / annual performance assessments. Coordinates the annual and initial competency assessments and ensures that they are completed. Assists with interviewing of potential staff to include both clinical and non-clinical positions. Conducts performance management counseling sessions with staff as appropriate and assigned. Works closely with House Supervisor and staffing office to maximize effective patient flow and patient placement on nursing unit. Demonstrates ability to manage, operate, trouble shoot and instruct staff on usage of unit equipment safely and correctly, including HBOC. Contributes to staff evaluations for both 90 day reviews as well as Annual performance reviews of staff in department. Includes meeting with staff to present review and formulating action plans as necessary. Assists with interviews of potential applicants to include both clinical and non-clinical staff. Coordinates the annual and initial competency assessments and ensures that they are completed in a timely manner. Identifies opportunities for staff to complete competencies. Conducts performance management counseling sessions with staff as necessary.
- 1-3 years experience as RN in the Cath Lab required with 3-5 years preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing Required with Bachelor Degree in Nursing Preferred
- Licensed RN in the State of Arizona
- BCLS Certification
- ACLS / PALS / NRP as required
- Ability to work effectively with computer based charting and other clinical software programs
- Adaptability to change, organizational skills
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
