Position Title: Director Admitting

Essential Functions:

This position directs the registration, admitting and switchboard operating functions for the hospital. Manages staff and work processes such that registrations are accurate and complete, financial information and payments are timely and accurate, third party notification/and authorization requirements are satisfied, and the collection of all patient financial responsibility data meets internal and external compliance guidelines. Provides patients, patient families and medical staff customers with high quality service experiences.

  • Ensures that patient demographics and insurance information is accurately obtained and recorded.
  • Responsible for supervising, monitoring productivity, and supervising the day-to-day activities of the registrars, schedulers, and switchboard operators, including discipline, performance evaluation, & improvement.
  • Establish baseline performance for each employee and develop goals and targets, in line with department goals, for each.
  • Continually evaluate the performance of the department and will adjust processes and practices to improve performance.
  • Meet monthly point of sale collection goals.
  • Ensures the department is providing outstanding customer service to the patients, fellow employees, and physicians implementing improvement initiatives when necessary.
  • Monitor the utilization of patient access tools to improve efficiencies
  • Reviews admitting department operations to ensure compliance with applicable standards
  • Build a network visiting physicians offices to help resolve any barriers with admitting and scheduling.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and three years management Experience – or -
  • High School/GED and eight years management Experience
  • Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Moderate level computer knowledge including data entry, word processing, spreadsheets. Ability to learn hospital admissions programs.
  • This position is subject to the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for Steward Health Care Workforce. Employees in this position will be required to provide adequate proof of vaccination for COVID-19 by an FDA-approved vaccine prior to starting work. Steward will consider requests for exemptions from this vaccine requirement on the basis of medical condition or sincerely held religious belief in accordance with applicable Federal laws.
