JOB SUMMARY: The following statements are intended to describe the major elements and requirements of the position and should not be taken as an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of individuals assigned to this job.

Provides direct and indirect patient care, supervises non-licensed personnel as assigned in the acute care setting. Communicates with physicians/director/coordinator/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform duties in assigned department. Staff will be required to float to like areas across both St. Luke's Medical Center and Tempe St Luke's campuses, as the need arises.


BCLS certificate.

Successfully completed Nursing Assistant training course or have six month’s recent experience in a medical facility involving basic nursing skills. Additional languages preferred.

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English with demonstrated simple arithmetic skills.

Additional languages preferred

Basic computer knowledge.

Returns beds from PACU to OR at least twice per shift.

Performs shave preps pre-operatively according to policy and procedure.

Lifts and turns patients as required.

Immediately notifies Clinical Coordinator/RN of any unusual observations of a patient’s physical and emotional state.

Assures appropriate beds are available and prepared for all surgery patients post-operatively.

Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of sterile areas within the OR.

Responds quickly and provides assistance in emergency situations, as directed.

Able to completely turn over a room by self if needed.

Cleans rooms in between and after surgery cases using personal protective equipment.

Keeping back hallway clear of trash and linen and notifies Housekeeping when trash pick up is needed.

Monitors hallways and sterile core for unnecessary equipment and returns to appropriate storage areas.

Monitors pre-op holding areas and cleans as needed.

Keeps stock at par level for warmers, scrub sinks, dressing rooms, lounge and rooms.

Removes unused supplies and equipment from assigned operating room on a daily basis.
