Job Description

Assists with intra-operative anesthesia support, patient transfers & positioning, under the direct supervision of an RN and/ or anesthetist.

 

Assists with nursing assistant duties as assigned, by assisting with OR room turn-over and the transportation of patients, specimens, supplies, and equipment,  to meet both patient and department needs and expedite the provision of procedural care. 

 

Monitors the surgery schedule and anesthesia supply inventory to ensure availability of supplies for the efficient operation of the surgery department. 

 

Performs reprocessing functions to ensure the availability of laryngoscope blades and endoscopes, to meet the needs of scheduled patient-care activities. 

 

Provides technical support regarding the set-up and operation of surgical equipment such as endoscopy towers, suction machines, etc.

 

 

Maintains a safe, clean, patient-care environment, utilizing a cost-effective approach, to ensure optimum patient care and employee safety. 



Qualifications

A.   Minimum Education: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English with demonstrated simple arithmetic skills; must have successfully completed Nursing Assistant Training Course or have six months recent experience in a medical facility involving basic nursing skills.
 
B.   Minimum Experience: One year of surgical support tech or similar clinical experience.
 
C.  Anesthesia support and/or endoscopy tech experience preferred.
 
D.  Required Certification/Registration: BLS certificate
